Quantum Error Correcting Codes

Quantum information is hosted in very small and fragile systems which are therefore very susceptible to outside perturbations. A quantum error correcting code is a way to arrange many noisy quantum systems so that they simulate a smaller number but with reduced noise. The arrangement is such that by carefully measuring some part of the total system it is possible to infer where possible errors happened and to correct them.
